Extension Home Care Guide
A Guide for you to have the best at home care possible for your extensions.
Brushing
Brush 2 times or more per day to ensure extensions stay detangled. With your free hand keep pressure on the base of your rows to eliminate unnecessary tension and pulling while you brush.
If you wear more then 1 row, make sure to separate your rows clipping the top row up to ensure you are detangling to the weft line.
For curly extensions finger detangle before brushing and washing.
At night always brush and wear hair in braids or a top knot to ensure hair does not matte during sleep. I also recommend getting a silk pillow case and/or silk cap for sleeping.
Products
Use products that are approved by your stylist. In your gift bag came with approved products. I always recommend Goldielocks products for extension hair.
Apply Goldielocks Serum to your extension hair morning and at night after brushing to ensure the ends stay hydrated.
Never Use Olaplex or protein based products on your extension hair. It will cause breakage and matting.
After washing make sure to use an approved leave in conditioner and heat to help keep extension hair hydrated and protected during blow drying process.
If applying heat always use a heat protectant. Remember, I do not guarantee the longevity of the hair if you are not using the recommended products above.
Never use products that speed up the blow dry time, they will dry your hair out.
Only use sunscreens that do not contain Avobenzone. They will turn your extension hair pink or orange and extension hair will have to be replaced.
I always recommend getting a shower head filter.
Wash &
Styling
Wash your hair 1 to 2 times per week. If you are prone to oily hair utilize the top wash method and dry shampoo.
If you have more then 1 row
Top wash: Separate your rows from the hair on the top of your head, put your extension hair in a low bun at the base of your head, wash the hair that is left out of your bun. Blow dry and style.
Deep condition extension hair at least once a month.
When you wash make sure you are scrubbing the scalp and washing the tops of your rows thoroughly.
If you are wearing hand tied hair make sure you are blow drying the tops of your rows thoroughly after washing, working out, or if you sweat excessively. Prolonged moisture at the row attachment will cause the hand tied hair to swell and will lead to looping of the wefts.
Genius/micro wefts do not need to be blow dried and you should avoid heat of any kind at the top of the row as it could cause the wefts to melt and break apart.
Always use heat protectant when blow drying and thermal protectant when using a curling iron, flat iron, or blow dry brush.
Turn your curling iron, flat iron and blow dry brush temperature down to 350 degrees. To high of heat will burn your hair and cause damage, breakage and faster color fading.
